What a busy few weeks we’ve had. We have had many visitors popping into see us – Mrs Watson with her new grandson, Miss Canham helped us enjoy the MOL Miles Sponsored Walk and Mrs Mulraine helped us make and build the castle for the Friendly Dragon! We were so lucky to see Miss Vivian on Friday – Aberdeen schools had a long weekend so she popped in to help us play our phonic games.
Here are P2 enjoying the sponsored walk – thank you Miss Canham for coming along too.
On Thursday, with Mrs Mulraine, we were thinking about 2D and 3D shapes making castle pictures, talking about the features and naming 3D shapes.
In our writing, we sequenced the story of Jack and Beanstalk using story plans and the help of our group. Everyone worked so well and drew the missing parts of the story. Mrs MacQueen was so impressed she used up nearly all her stickers when she read them!
We really enjoyed our Art using paint, glue and paper to make the brick walls, turrets, windows, door and chains for the drawbridge for the Friendly Dragon’s castle. Just look at the concentration as we printed and painted.
Well done everyone 🙂
A big thank you to Ollie and Ross for sharing their trophy and Blue Peter Badge with us on Friday.
We were all very excited to see these. Well done boys! 🙂
Look who came to visit our classroom to see our fabulous beanstalk!
The Friendly Dragon is super impressed and even wrote us another letter – he told us that Jack is delighted! This time he left us Castle Books so we can keep him posted on our work to save Fairyland.
Well done P2 🙂
Here we are outside being explorers matching colour swatches to items in our playground.
We found so many interesting plants and objects and there were discussions about whether or not these matched the colours closely. Sometimes we had a look at the swatch collection to find a closer match.
Well done to our camera people – super photographs taken using the iPads.
This year’s sponsored walk takes place on the morning of Wednesday 12th September and the theme is – the MOVIES!
You are invited to dress as a character from a movie/film or come dressed in your Oscar best! On the day, we will roll out a red carpet for our very own MOL stars, and ready yourself for the paparazzi, Oscar speeches and MOL’s own ‘Feet of Fame’.
At 9.30am, P1-3 will complete a 5km walk through Daviot Woods – be sure to have a backpack, waterproof jacket and sensible footwear. In your backpack please take a water bottle and snack – no fizzy drinks, please. As we will be out and on the go in the woods, children will have to carry any waste from their snacks in their own bags.
We love to have parent helpers, if you are able to volunteer please complete the slip on the letter sent home today and we look forward to seeing you. 🙂
Wow, we have been very busy in P2 getting to know each other and learning lots of new routines. The children have practised their phonics and numeracy knowledge and have even been out and about in the playground investigating all the changes. We found so many differences since the end of primary 1, ask you child to tell you all about them.
We begun our term looking for our special P2 rock, to begin with we found lots of others belonging to different classes and then finally, we found our own. Here it is.
A very special letter arrived in the classroom this week from a friendly dragon asking for our help. Our mission is to read as many fairytales as possible – ask your child why? We even phoned Mr Quigley to ask permission to make some changes to our classroom, fortunately he said yes but only if he could come down to see the P2 classroom regularly. Keep checking the blog for photos updating the changes – it is really exciting.
Have a good weekend. 🙂
Welcome to the Primary 2 blog.
Visit us regularly to see our learning – we love getting comments so please keep in touch.
